Final Reflection - Girl's Varsity Soccer Manager

When I first started this activity, I was not very sure rather I would be able to learn from this activity. I honestly started this, because I was interested in playing soccer. I was only interest to do this to feel my CAS activity. Now, this activity became more than just a CAS activity.

Throughout two months, I helped various aspects of the team for the members to improve. The team practiced every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and practiced for 2 hours every meeting. I, consequently, met the girls every week and frequently talked about soccer. The members were very unskilled and was not prepared to play in any level of soccer tournaments. Many of those members actually said that it was their first time to play soccer. The members, even the returning members of the team, were not familiar with many of the basic rules, and had to be taught. For most of the times, I had to lead by example, as I had to demonstrate how many of the basics had to be done, and to show that I actually care for the team.

As the time passed on, my affection towards the team grew bigger. I cared, thought, and learned more about the team. I realized this better, when some of the players had to be cut out of the team. I honestly felt bad because I cared about them. I also had to do something to actually motivate the player to become better. I had to tell them the hard truth, so the player will be able to learn from it. Unfortunately, I also felt bad from the experience, I felt sorry for the players.

Through this activity, I have learned to feel more about how the coaches feel, when they coached me. I have learned how hard it is to coach the players, who especially do not know much about the things that I have to teach. I have learned to become more caring individual.
